![]() ![]() Just checked again today and suddenly it's on 1.37. I checked during the weekend, and it said it was on update 1.35, which I already have downloaded and installed. I tried very hard to check my games library and updates every day, so I don't miss another update for No Man's Sky. While the only practical way for customers to check their game updates ( aside from Galaxy ) remains perpetually broken.Īnother Update: All right, fuck you GOG. ![]() Meanwhile we got a new notification system, but it only informs us of forum comments and chat messages. Chances are, those aren't the only games without proper update notifications during that time period. I only noticed them because I've been keeping an eye on these particular games and checked their library entries manually. ![]() And no, none of them showed up in the "updated" tab in my games library. Update: Since I originally created this thread, NMS and Darkwood had a total of three more updates. If GOG keeps insisting that a client program is required to enjoy computer games these days, then they might just convince me, but Galaxy isn't going to be my first choice. But we'll do our best to make your customer experience as miserable as we possibly can, if you decide not to use it."Īnd before some Galaxy supporters or GOG staff start advertising the client to me yet again: I came here, like many others, specifically because I did not want to deal with any client software or additional programs, aside from the games. You know how they keep emphasizing how their Galaxy client is ( officially ) completely optional? At this point it's more like "Galaxy is completely optional. ![]() I don't know if it's incompetence or if they're doing this intentionally, to make Galaxy look more attractive, but neither version sounds good. Another update I would have missed, and which would eventually have required a full re-download of the game, if I had not stumbled over it.Īll things considered, I'm ever so slightly irritated. I checked some of my games anyway, and surely enough, my recently purchased copy of "Darkwood" had a new update. I clicked on the "Updated" tab and it said "0 Updates". I was just checking my library for new game updates, so I don't miss any again. Well, fast forward another week or so, and I've just encountered another problem with the site's updates. I was considering to make a forum post about it back then, but ultimately didn't bother. To add insult to injury, I probably wouldn't have missed that update, if the website still had a proper notification system, which it used to have for years. Oh well, at least my game was updated, but it was only a temporary solution, because this same problem could occur with any other game in my library ( currently about 300+ games ). ), but they also gave me the standard reply of "We recommend you use GOG Galaxy to keep your games up to date." So I contacted support and they were actually able to help me out by sending me the missing patch files ( for the record I'm not angry towards GOG's support staff - I know they're just doing their job, and are not responsible for GOG's business decisions etc. I did miss one of those updates, even though I checked the website frequently, and I didn't want to re-download the whole game, due to my connection speed and limited monthly bandwidth. In practice, that meant you had to download the entire game ( several GB of data ) whenever you missed one of the small update files ( a few MB in size ). Basically the Devs released several patches within about a week or two, but instead of keeping them all available via the website, GOG decided to replace the old patches, each time a new one was released. I've had some trouble downloading updates for a game recently. ![]()
